Running a Baseball League: Leveraging The Little League World Series for Sponsorship Growth

Little League Sponsorships baseball

Running a baseball league comes with its challenges, one of which I happen to be an expert on - raising money through sponsorships. I thought I'd take some time to discuss how you can use the publicity from The Little League World Series to boost your sponsorship numbers.

If you're new to my blog, don't worry; you're here now, and that's what counts. My name is Ben Gibbons, and I founded Sponsor Helper - a professional sponsorship platform unlike any other on the market. I work with nonprofits of all sizes to manage their sponsorship programs, helping to grow sustainable revenue year after year, so your volunteers can focus on other important tasks.

I have no reservations about hitching my wagon to a popular event, and neither should you. Just as I would advise a soccer league not to let the World Cup pass them by, I urge baseball leagues to capitalize on the awareness generated by The Little League World Series to engage with potential sponsors about sponsorship.

For the purposes of this article, I'll assume you have an email distribution list of potential and current sponsors that you usually contact as your season starts. Let's rethink that approach. Sponsorship relationships are built over time; you can't forge a lasting connection if the only time you reach out is to ask for money. That makes sense, right?

The Little League World Series provides an excellent opportunity to nurture these relationships. Consider sending an email with a catchy subject like "The Little League World Series is happening now—here's how you can support local baseball." In your email, introduce yourself and your league (even if you are not a Little League), and highlight your achievements from the past season. Topics might include the number of kids who participated, any successes in district, regional, or state competitions, where your travel teams went this summer, and any capital improvements made or planned. Include photos from the season, and conclude with an invitation to follow your league on all your social media channels. Don’t forget to share this message on your social platforms as well to extend your reach.

Don’t be discouraged if you don’t get immediate responses; remember, you’re building relationships, and the direct ask for support will come later.

Need help with sponsorships? I’d be happy to chat with you or a member of your team to discuss all the benefits of using Sponsor Helper for your league. Be sure to visit my site for more information at sponsorhelper.com/nonprofits.

Happy relationship building,

Ben
